dc.description.abstractResearch involving caffeinated energy drinks and endurance cycling protocols is limited. Many studies have been conducted consisting of sprint trials and shorter duration protocols. Understanding the interaction the human body has with energy drinks is important to contribute to the existing body of literature and discover benefits from these supplements. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect two dose of a caffeinated energy drink (70 mg or 140 mg), or placebo have on performance time, rating of perceived exertion (RPE), heart rate (HR), respiratory exchange ratio (RER) and volume of oxygen consumption (VO?éé) for a cycling bout of 10 miles.
